MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES

Efron has a certified hit and becomes a movie star. Aubrey Plaza steals the movie.

With their daughter Jeanie (Sugar Lyn Beard) getting married in Hawaii, Mr. and Mrs. Stangle (Stephen Root and Stephanie Faracy) arrange an intervention for their two sons, Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zak Efron), urging them not to ruin the wedding. They show a compilation of the highlights from past family events. Mike and Dave’s antics might be memorable for the guests and make great videos, but that’s due to the destruction of property and, at one gathering, the near death of their grandfather.

Jeanie and her fiancé Eric (Sam Richardson) are getting married in Hawaii.

The conditions are laid out: they have to bring decent dates to the wedding. Dates to a wedding? Then who will have sex with the bridesmaids?

There is only one way to secure decent dates to the destination wedding – an ad on Craigslist. The ad goes viral and an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show cements their luck.

Watching on TV is Alice (Anna Kendrick) and Tatiana (Aubrey Plaza), two ladies of objectionable skills, no jobs and with bad habits that could easily transcend anything Mike and Dave can commit, decide to present themselves as the perfect dates. They model themselves on, let’s say, Sarah Lawrence sorority girls.

While Alice is an equal terror to Tatiana, it seems Tatiana is the instigator and alpha female. Alice is matched with Dave and being its Zac Efron, she falls for him. Tatiana has absolutely no interest in Mike.

Directed by Jake Szymanski and written by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien,MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES surpasses THE HANGOVER in raunchy sex and hilarious antics.

These two girls are just full-loving idiots without an agenda except a free vacation to Hawaii. And Alice, trying to be nice to the bride, arranges her to have a “special” massage from the hotel therapist (Kumail Nanjiani) who strips, oils and gives Jeanie the samadhi “O”, which leaves Jeanie questioning her ever-patient fiancé.

If you do not want to see the glut of children’s animation movies currently showing and yearn for the silly antics of two young women out-grossing the guys, MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES is very funny. And Aubrey Plaza takes her place along Amy Schumer and Lena Durham. Aubrey has arrived.
