Who is Mantak Chia? He is a teacher of the Microcosmic Orbit, Sexual Kung Fu and creator of The Healing Tao System. When asked his purpose, his answer is: “I’m teaching Physical Immortality!”

On the list of the Top 100 Spiritually Influential People alive today, Grandmaster Mantak Chia is listed as Number 12. I have been a fan of his books since the early 90’s, starting with his first groundbreaking book, Awaken Healing Energy Through The Tao. Chia has written over 40 books such as Healing Love through the Tao: Cultivating Female Sexual Energy and Taoist Secrets Of Love: Cultivating Male Sexual Energy. Sexual energy plays very important roles in qi (energy) cultivation.

Mantak Chia is a Taoist master. Taoism believes that sexual energy accounts for a large part of the energy that a human body generates or absorbs; a person cannot achieve spiritual fulfillment without conserving and leveraging the power of sexual energy.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN: ORIGINS OF THE UNIVERSAL HEALING TAO is a new DVD documentary that chronicles Grandmaster Chia’s beginnings with the establishment of his first Universal Healing Tao school in Thailand in 1974, after systematizing his knowledge of Taoism. He founded the Universal Healing Tao Center in Chinatown in New York in 1979 as part of the “Esoteric Underground” with one-on-one training. At Harvard, in 1981, Grandmaster Chia began teaching workshops. He continues to travel around the world to this day. In 1994 he began to build the Universal Tao Training Center in Thailand. Since then, Chia has taught thousands of students through his workshops and teaching programs.

Mantak Chia is interviewed on the DVD as well as his writing collaborators and grateful students that have worked with him for decades. HOW IT ALL BEGAN also features two additional interviews with Grandmaster Chia, one from a cable-access program from 1983 called “Ultimate Stretch” and a 2010 interview, “Talk About Healing.”

HOW IT ALL BEGAN comes from filmmakers and Healing Tao Instructors Jamee Culbertson and Karin Sörvik. This DVD is a must for fans of Mantak Chia who want to know the origins of such an influential living Taoist master.
