COWBOYS AND ALIENS

How did this drivel ever get made?

There are so many pending, and far more worthy, projects out there just begging for a chance and yet they produce this pile of dross.

Ok, Harrison Ford gets to work with the latest James Bond (Craig, who has the charisma of a Kleenex (as he has in both of his Bond movies I might add)), having worked with the first (Connery) in LAST CRUSADE, but this is a complete pile of … poop.

The premise is viable. Maybe this is what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a Stargate.

The problem is – we don’t care. The characters, all of them, are unlikable, underdeveloped and boring. Ford chews, grizzles and shouts his way through his dialogue. Craig is relying on his Bond persona to carry him through. The romantic interest is bland to say the least and the SFX are ropey and patently obvious. No disbelief is suspended in any way.

There is no style, sophistication, originality or quality in this whatsoever, just big names and a big budget.

Give me The Valley of Gwangi anytime.

Sorry this is a short review, but there is nothing else to say about this picture… except: ‘How did this drivel ever get made?’

And I don’t want to spend any more of my valuable time writing about it. I wasted enough just watching it.
